We will have several field trip and workshop options for Saturday morning. We will not provide transportation for field trips, but will encourage carpooling. All field trips are free.
Field trip option 1 - Micronesian Starlings
Head to Andersen Air Force Base to check out the Micronesian starling nest box project and visit the Tarague embayment area. Biologists will describe this latest effort to provide additional nesting areas for these birds, and explain some of the latest findings. We will focus on sites that are relevant to recent natural resource projects. We will visit some cultural sites as well.
Participation is limited to the first 20 registrants. You must be a U.S. citizen [If you are a Foreign National, the security office requires one-month lead time, so unfortunately you will not be able to participate in this tour] and if you do not have base access (a common access card -CAC), then we will need to obtain a visitor's pass for you ahead of time. We will meet at the Micronesian Mall at 7:30 AM outside the main Macy’s entrance, and we will carpool to Andersen. You will not be allowed to bring your own car on base unless you already have base access. We will carpool together in one of several vehicles.

The tour will begin at the Center for Island Sustainability, House #32 on Dean’s Circle. We will meet at 9am and the tour should take about an hour and a half. Please bring a water bottle and sun protection.

The tour will begin at 9am at the Guam Community College main parking lot, behind the multipurpose room where the Marianas Terrestrial Conservation Conference is being held. The trail is very uneven and can be slippery in the rainy season.
Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring a water bottle for this field trip. The walk will take about an hour and the medicinal demonstrations will be ongoing through the morning.
